Introducing ...

Mama's new laptop, the Red Apple.
The old Powerbook had simply gotten too old, was no longer able to be upgraded with the latest versions of browsers, not to mention getting a bit too full.
And so when the stars aligned, we got this Mama a second hand laptop from Singapore with the help of some old friends.
After some pimping (both for aesthetics and security reasons), this Mama got herself a bright, hot, almost new Red Apple.

In the past 2 months it's been a steep learning curve as I adjusted not only to a new computer, but also new OS, new programs, new workflow, new things...
And the family schedules had not been the most conducive, with trips to Singapore, visit from family, and latest trip to Hong Kong to take care of my Mom.
But we are hopeful for a good year.
Perhaps this is finally when I'll get to populate this space again.
We hope, we hope, and we just jump on and do it.

Until then!

Unsubscribed

Of all the things to share on Facebook, why do you actually PRAY on it?
I don't get it.
Do you really need to tell everyone in your circle that you are praying so that you can pass exam tomorrow or something?
And as a borderline agnostic (with my own reasons for becoming so), I am really not into having prayers on my wall.
I am sure there are other places where you can pray, even on Facebook.
I suppose some people would really love to follow your prayers.
But excuse me while I remove my subscription if that was all you are going to do in your timeline.

It's bad enough that I have to deal with people knocking on my physical door for my time to be saved, I do not need something I am not comfortable with on my online wall as well.
If you have some interesting story, tips or other useful thing... perhaps I can come back.

Ready or not ...

22022012

Still in the same line with the last post...

We went for lunch at the new mall in town today, trying out a new restaurant, serving a dish from our past.
While waiting for my turn to order and pay for the food (it was done fast food style, with customers paying upfront before sitting at the table and wait for the food), I can't help noticing the covered computer/POS on the cashier's desk.
The cashier, as a matter of fact, was busily writing down the orders of the customer in front of me.
Twice.
Once on the official receipt (carbon copy), and another time on another piece of paper, presumably to be passed to the kitchen.

Moral of the story?

It would have been great if the business had waited until everything is up and running before opening its doors to its customers.
At the same time, deadlines are not known to respect Murphy's law, and ideal conditions rarely happen in real life.
Had the business waited for THE perfect day when EVERYTHING is in place, perhaps we wouldn't have been able to have our lunch there today.

The business could have done better, yet had it not opened, it wouldn't have made any money either.

This message is mainly for myself. The best time to start your business, or to really start working on it, whatever it is, is NOW!

Plodding on

PowerBook9948
From a recent digging trip to my photo library: my better half engrossed in his hobby
Not many things are more inspiring than to see labor of love,
A love that would keep one going, going and going...
A love that would make an activity so fun, so relaxing, even through all the intricacies involved...
A love that would keep one coming back.

I should do the same, even if there are still many things to figure out yet.
Hope to see you soon.
